Energy Tachometer: ALC's 'Environmental Index'

Automated Logic’s Environmental Index (EI) was recently awarded the Bronze Product of the Year in a competition showcasing practical innovation conducted by Consulting Specifying Engineer magazine (CSE). The EI was chosen as one of the five finalists in the Networked BAS/Energy Management Systems category by a panel of professional consulting engineer judges who regularly design and specify HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems. CSE subscribers then voted on which of the five finalists should win gold, silver and bronze status.

"We are honored to be chosen for this award, and we’re glad the CSE judges and readers recognize the value the Environmental Index brings to the market," said Lauren Kolb, president of Automated Logic Corporation. "We’ve always strived for simplicity in the face of the complex building controls industry, and EI is another tool we’re offering to serve-up complex information in an intuitive format. Our goal is to make our customers’ jobs easier by giving them the technology to make smart decisions quickly, which can ultimately save on operating costs."

Automated Logic’s Environmental Index gives facility managers a simple method for determining both the energy efficiency and occupant comfort level within a building with one look at a color-coded dial. Instead of manually analyzing data from multiple sources to determine if buildings are operating efficiently, facility managers can instead use the EI, which automatically gathers data on heating and cooling set-points, relative humidity, and contaminants like C02, and displays them as a percentage on an analog gauge, using red segments to indicate poor environments and gradually changing to green as conditions improve. This allows facility managers to quickly identify operational problems and take corrective action to achieve sustainable performance.
